Unit 2 Online Quizzes

If you didn't catch the email or comment post, you can continue the online quizzes through 2/26. The 2/19 was set when we had the test on 2/20 - since that is pushed back, so is the due date for the online quizzes.

So...2/26. :)

Out of the blue question: for our quarter project, can we do a positive externality?

KM said...

Sure. Either way. A negative would probably be easier to write about, though.

Ok so our project: any interesting externality thats been in the news lately? or any externality period?

since we're all asking about the project i have a question about the due date. i don't remember the exact date it's set for but since everything else is getting pushed back, will this too? just wondering.. :)

A question about on line quizes.

Are we supposed to take this chapter 21 on line quiz? It doesn't look right to me..

Is this sheet with due dates correct any more? Why would the chapter 10 be due may 7th?

Because we're behind a week or so does that mean we have to speed through something or cut something out of the curriculum? Will we be fully prepared to take the AP test? Just wondering...

question for the general population of our econ class...

i have the oscars turned on in the background and they have been talking about what it takes to "go green" and "an inconvienent truth" just won an oscar it got me thinking about how this affects our economy. how much money will it take for us to go green? i have heard it said that from an economic stand point, it doesn't matter what we are doing to the environment, as long as we are making money, is this true, or do our morals have to play a part?

just a random question...

Ok, this project, how on earth am I going to be able to write 1000 words?!? It does not seem like it would be that long of a paper.

Welcome to college level writing...1000 words would be 4 pages (approx 250 wpp at 12 size font of Times). Complete analysis is necessary.

The due date cannot be pushed back; it's due right before the end of the quarter on March 15th.

Yes, we are behind. Yes, we will have to go faster than I'd like in unit 3, but I do allow "catch up" days in unit 3 because it's so intense, so we should be okay.

Are you ever really fully ready for an AP national exam? I doubt it. Since I can't write the exam, and since we aren't allowed to see the exams, none of us are ever 100% certain on what will be on it. We must go by what the college board says in their percentages - which are in the back of your syllabus.

Chapter 21 - is an orphan chapter that doesn't fit in well anywhere, but if I had to choose (and I do...), it fits in better with S & D. It will not be on your unit test, but you may see info on the national exam. It would be minimal.

"Going green"...an economist would not say it's all good as long as there's profit - but they WOULD say that choices have to be made and you must take the consequences of your actions. Wanna drive anywhere without having to take a bus? Then there will be emissions. Want to drill in the Arctic for oil? Then there will be spills and the ruin of the Arctic Wildlife Preserve. Want to build more fuel efficient cars? Then you'll have to pay for them.

Hmm...sounds like EXTERNALITIES to me! :)

I know I forgot to post on elasticity - you can post comments through tomorrow. I'll get one on today. :)
